1. What is your birthplace?

Shubham – I was born in Patna.

2. How do you find an interest in direction?

Shubham – So it’s a long story. When I was in 10th standard, a Bollywood movie ” Udaan ” shoot was happening just next to my house in Jamshedpur. I remember my pre boards were about to come and I was excited to see the shoot. Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy used to come and sit in my home. My mother used to serve tea to the crew members as a gesture. I was so fascinated to see shoot that Udaan became turning point in my life.

Then I decided that I would pursue my career in film making. But that time, I didn’t know anything about film making. Direction as a profession came into my mind as I was highly impressed with Imtiaj Ali Sir’s movies He is a natural role model as he belongs to the Jamshedpurthe city I also belong to.

3. From where did you learn Film making? Also, according to you – self- learning or Learning from an expert. Which is more important?

Shubham – I haven’t gone to any film making school. I have learnt from work to work. Assisted many directors in ad films. Every director has a different way of making films. In every project you got to learn new things. Working on sets and assisting helps me to learn direction and still I am learning.

Both are important as assisting helps you learn every aspect of film-making, but if you don’t have interest to learnyou can’t do it as I said more you work, more you assist directors, more you learn the process of film making. Be good at pre production, then be active on set and go to post production, it will help to learn more. In between, I also got opportunities to assist in short movies, music videos & web series which format is slightly different. In this way, myself learning is still going on..

4. What do you feel about the emerging trend of web series?

Shubham – I feel it’s great as nowadays digital platform is widely leveraged by film makers. It’s getting more and more popular among viewers. Everyone is doing good stuff on different platforms available this point in time. As a filmmaker you have the freedom to tell your story on web series or digitally that you might not be able to show in a film.

5. Which is your favorite show, video, or series which you directed?

Shubham – I have directed one ad film for Pareto Capital titled Cyrus. That’s my favorite work which reinforced the importance of casting vote in elections.

6. Do you have role models?

Shubham – Yes. My role models are my Mama “ASEEM Sinha” (A famous film editor) and Rahul sirwhom I have assisted the most in ad films. Both are like my mentors who are not only excellent professionals, but also very good human beings.

7. Do you have any dream project?

Shubham – Not really. At presentI Just want to make good films. I will like to work more and more diversified projects for wider exposure and self learning.

8. Which is your favorite genre?

Shubham – My favorite genre is ‘DRAMA and THRILLER’

9. What was the first reaction of your family when you told them that you want to choose film making as your profession?

Shubham – Initially they were apprehensive about the uncertainty of this profession. But once they realized that I was really serious and passionate in making my career in film making, they supported me wholeheartedly.

10. Apart from film-making do you have an interest in sports or any other field?
