1. Your early life info like – birthplace, school, college, degree?
Niharica – My life began in a beautiful monarchy situated between France, Germany and Belgium one of the richest countries in the world “Luxembourg”. I was born there. I grew up there, amongst the Europeans (I went to the European School, and hung out a lot with the French (my favorite) the German, and the Spanish), at that time there were very few Indians in Luxembourg.
Today, the Indian presence in Luxembourg has expanded, but in my time, I did not know that many Indian faces. So, the first time, I landed in London for my College admission I had a Tube ride with a Sardarji, I can’t tell you how happy that I was, it was me and Pagh waale Sardarji sitting on the Tube alone at 6 am. I couldn’t stop staring, I was fascinated, but that’s when I realized that England was so different from Luxembourg in terms of its Indian Community. I got admission to Imperial College for Medicine, but I failed a lot, it was always heart wrenching, when I failed.
But in my third year there I pulled up my socks and truly took my studies seriously. Today, I am a qualified Translational Medical practitioner with Cardiology as my subject. I deal with the matters of the heart both professionally and academically. I love my profession. It has made me who I am today.
2. How do you find an interest in acting?
Niharica – Acting is a way of life, its limelight, its power, it’s the branding of a different kind. I adore it. I like acting because it gives me a sense of emancipation. If I’m a book, then during acting I feel read. That’s what acting does to me. It frees me.
3. From where did you learn acting? And according to you – self- learning or Learning from an expert. Which one has more impact?
Niharica – Both. It is important to be taught craft by people who can bring you out of your shell, practice dialogues with you, give you that extra nudge when you need it. I went to the New York film Academy to learn acting, but it’s like Doctoring, you can theoretically be a great doctor, but until and unless you don’t inject, you don’t cut, you don’t sew you don’t interact with your patient your theoretical knowledge has no value.
It’s the same with acting. It is a highly “interactive” art form. It’s not for the non-people friendly people. It requires a lot of interaction, improvisation, empathy, and love. You need to know that any work done in front of the camera is a group effort, you as a good actor, can bring that group into one line of thought, and that’s the difference between the mediocre and the greats.
With that said, if you don’t find your internal acting, music as I like to call it, that’s a very internal process which changes film to film and I feel at that time no teacher can transform you from your soul out. That you have to do for yourself.
4. How much it was difficult to pursue your dream?
Niharica – Very difficult, but it’s OK. Difficult not regarding #metoo, but in terms of competition. India has mighty talented people. In Luxembourg, I am putting my talent out in front of 6 Lakh people, in India, I am placing it in front of 1.3 billion people. That’s the difficulty. I have to shine amongst, really, really talented people. That’s the competition. And I accept the challenge.
5. In such a cutthroat competition what is your USP?
Niharica – That I speak several languages, that I am an NRI born to parents from Kota and Kanpur, that I’m highly educated and very well-traveled, I have also experiences of the film industry both behind the screen and in front of the screen since 2003. It’s been a while. Experience counts.
6. What do you feel about the emerging trend of web series?
Niharica – I think its great. So many directors who I know have wanted to independently direct are getting to showcase their direction talent. It’s opened up the market. Actors are also getting a chance to work, otherwise so many people are waiting for their opportunity. The Web-series trend has definitely increased the chance of getting work.
7. Which is your favorite genre?
Niharica – Horror.
8. Which is favorite show, video or series in which you have acted?
Niharica – My favorite is yet to come, but I like my role in Sooryavanshi that of an ATS girl officer. That’s hardcore.
9. Do you have any dream role?
Niharica – Yes, I want to do Rangeela again and I want to play a spy, extremely sexy and highly intelligent.
10. To whom you look up to? Any role model?
Niharica – In the film Industry : Ajay Devgn. Otherwise, many others. Like: Lady Gaga, a few world class doctors and few powerful women.

Niharica – They refused. It’s not their preferred profession for me.
12. Is your family being supportive when you told them that you want to become an actor? If not, then how did you convince?
Niharica – They are not supportive, but they are not dismissive either. I have a family who will express their opinion, but not necessarily dominate their opinion on me. So I am just being.
